When putting together a budget for your wedding, don’t forget about your honeymoon. This can be the most enjoyable part of the whole experience for the bride and groom and believe me, you will need it, especially if planning a large wedding! A honeymoon doesn’t have to be expensive. All you will probably want to do is lie around, relax and spend quality time with each other. So, whether it be on a beach in St Barts or spending an extra few nights at the hotel where you had your reception, make sure to remember the importance of the honeymoon! You will find it very difficult to go right back to work after a weekend (or week) of wedding festivities and entertaining.

You just spent, quite possibly, a year and a half planning out every detail of one day. Consider saving the trip with a packed agenda of sightseeing and activities for another time. Take this opportunity to have a spontaneous and relaxing time together. Make this one of those vacations where you don’t need a vacation from your vacation.
If you can’t take much time off work and don’t want to spend the little time you have traveling, research places close to home and spend your money on a boutique hotel or spa resort in your area. You may be spending a lot of time in your room anyway, so why not splurge on your accommodations? Boutique hotels usually provide beautifully styled modern rooms, personal service and great food on-site. For the only boutique hotel in our area check out the Hotel Donaldson at www.hoteldonaldson.com

This post comes from Maranda Tandberg, the Event Coordinator at the fabulous Hotel Donaldson in downtown Fargo. The Hotel Donaldson is an amazing venue for couples who are looking for a unique ceremony location or reception location (or both!). It’s also a great rehearsal dinner location. Here’s a Q+A with Maranda :
How long has the HoDo been in business?
Since August 2003
Who is the HoDo’s ideal client?
We love a fresh and modern bride who wants to do things out of the ordinary or nontraditional. We don’t have large banquet rooms like many of the hotels in Fargo, but think what we have is better for a bride looking for something unique. We love to do small ceremonies on the roof or in our wine cellar. There is just something special about the intimacy of it. For receptions, couples have combined multiple spaces in our hotel to accommodate groups of 20 to 300.
What is your favorite part of your job ?
I love to see what the bride has done with the style of her wedding. I love my first glimpse of the bride’s dress and flowers. Also, I am loving the unique ceremony and reception touches that brides are coming up with. Then, actually pulling off the perfect day for them. Nothing is better than that!
